Applesauce and Asparagus

April 4th, 2008 at 11:03 pm

Couldn't last the afternoon. I finished off the last bit of cinnamon applesauce

Then about half an hour later I was still hungry so I heated up some asparagus I made a few nights earlier.

Still have managed to stay off the chocolate and soda which is just amazing. Hopefully I can do the same when we are out this eveing.

Turkey, Salami and Swiss Sandwich

April 4th, 2008 at 09:34 pm

Got up a bit late and immediately had some work to do, so didn't have the chance to grab a bite to eat until about 11:00 - so I decide to combine breakfast and lunch with a sandwich - salami, turkey ans Swiss cheese with olive oil mayo. Good stuff:

I'm going out with a friend this eveing which means I'll probably be eating quite a bit. Not sure if I can last until dinner without a snack, but will try.

Food Headache Question

April 4th, 2008 at 08:36 am

I managed not to eat my usual late night snack this evening which is great except it has left me with a terrible headache. I know it's because of not eating and not something else.

I have had this terrible snacking problem for a long time. I'm not really hungry, but I get a headache if I don't eat something. My question is if I suck it up and suffer through it the next week, will it go away?

I'd love to quit late night snacking, but not if I feel like this every night.

Steak, Fries and Veggies

April 4th, 2008 at 02:50 am

I can't believe it. I didn't have any lunch! It was one of those bust days when I just didn't have a free second and didn't even have any snacks. So you can imagine that I was starving by the time I made dinner.

Dinner was steak, garlic fries and mixed veggies

Good stuff although probably not the healthiest food in the world. I continue to be soda free which is amazing. Just want to keep those baby steps going for the rest of this week.

Bowl of Cereal

April 3rd, 2008 at 07:11 pm

Went for the easy breakfast of a bowl of Raisin Brand this morning.

Does anyone else have a problem getting the energy to make breakfast in the morning? I guess I'm just not a morning person when it comes to making food.

Peanut Butter and Apricot Jam

April 3rd, 2008 at 06:31 am

Didn't make it without my late night snack tonight and made myself a peanut butter and apricot jam sandwich again.

2 days down, 5 more to go to finish out the first week.

Salmon, Veggies and Rice-a-Roni

April 3rd, 2008 at 02:49 am

I actually made it thorugh the afternoon without a snack which is something that hasn't happened in years, but by evening I was starving. I had a good meal - salmon, steamed veggies and rice-a-roni.

Still going through soda withdrawals with a headache. Don't believe people that say that they aren't addictive. Hopefully I'll be over them by the end of the week and I won't break down before then.

Onion Bagel Chicken Sandwich

April 2nd, 2008 at 10:51 pm

After the disaster oatmeal breakfast this morning, I decided to stay with something I know I like for lunch. I still had some leftover chicken from a couple of days ago and put that on an onion bagel with Swiss cheese and olive oil mayo. mmmmm, much better!

Another step in the right direction, but I'm starting to go through soda withdrawal. I usually have a couple a day and didn't have any yesterday and none so far today. Anyone else manage to kick the soda habit without too much withdrawal?

Oatmeal

April 2nd, 2008 at 08:29 pm

I had oatmeal this morning for breakfast:

Basically I had a bunch that I had bought awhile ago and hadn't eaten, so I thought I should use it up. One bite into it and I remembered why I hadn't eaten it for so long. There is no polite way to say it other than oatmeal tastes like crap. It tastes like I would imagine what placing all your shredded documents in milk and heating it up would taste like. Seriously, is there anyone that really likes oatmeal?

I forced it down, but that is not going to be on the breakfast menu for quite some time.

Applesauce, Nuts and Peanut Butter Sandwich

April 2nd, 2008 at 06:36 am

Couldn't make it through the rest of the evening without another snack - broke down because it's going to be a fairly late night with work that needs to be completed. It was fairly healthy in the sense it wasn't pure sugar, but still wish I could have had a bit more self will. I ended up having non sweetened applesauce with mixed nuts dumped in and a peanut butter and apricot jelly sandwich.

Still have a few more hours of work, but I'm determined not to snack anymore tonight. Then only six more days. Baby steps.

Hamburger

April 2nd, 2008 at 02:24 am

Another one of those small step goals met - I lasted until dinner time (although I had it a bit early) without another snack besides the Bartlett pear. I cooked myself up a hamburger

I didn't have any buns, so I used the sprouted multi-grain bread again. I added olive oil mayo, onions, tomatoes, some salad leaves and salt. It tasted pretty good, but part of that is probably that I was pretty hungry.

Stayed with water as a drink again.

Red Bartlett Pear

April 1st, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Another small success for today. I chose a red bartlett pear as my afternoon snack instead of a Snickers candy bar.

I'm going to try and make it to dinner without any other snacks, but not sure if I'll be able to hold out. This is the first time in months that I have made it into the afternoon without sugar sustaining me so it is a small success thus far.

Chicken Sandwich

April 1st, 2008 at 09:54 pm

Starting slowly but surely. Baby steps. I did keep myself from eating my usually early afternoon snack since I knew I would have to add it which is one gold star for me today.

I made myself a chicken sandwich with leftover chicken from last night with Swiss cheese and olive oil mayo on sprouted multi-grain bread.

I decided to just have water (not a coke) with it. Good start, just have to last another 6.5 days

Whole Foods Raisin Brand

April 1st, 2008 at 07:54 pm

I've been a lurker for awhile both here and in the forums and I've decided to try and kill two birds with one stone. I want to eat healthier (and lose some weight) plus save money, so I've decided to record everything I eat for the next week (baby steps) here with the hope that I can achieve two things:

1. Eat healthier
2. Reduce my food costs

I think that by taking photos of everything I eat and showing it to the world, I will think a bit more before putting things into my mouth. I'll need all the support I can get, but it's time to give it a try.

This morning I had Whole Foods Raisin Brand with 1% milk.

Does anyone else think this Raisin Brand is kinda sweet?
